ONEPIP Group, with its corporate headquarters in Singapore, mourns the passing of the Founding Father of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
“En Hui and I were classmates in The Chinese High School (now “Hwa Chong Institution”) in the 1980s. The Chinese High School was part of the Ministry of Education’s Special Assistance Plan, where students studied both English and Mandarin as first languages”, said Felix Tan, Co-founder of ONEPIP Group.
“Back then, China just started on economic reforms launched by the late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. During the past 35 years, China has emerged as the fastest growing economy in the world. Mr Lee Kuan Yew was one of the first to recognize China’s potential under Deng Xiaoping’s reforms. He had the vision and foresight to encourage Singaporeans to be effectively bilingual, in English and in Mandarin, and to plug into the rising economy of China, not only linguistically, but also culturally.”
“We are grateful to Mr Lee for his foresight and his contribution in maintaining a close business relationship with China. It has allowed ONEPIP Group to start business in Hong Kong smoothly. We will not be where we are today without him,” added Lee En Hui, Co-founder of ONEPIP Group.
“For the peace and prosperity which we enjoy in Singapore today, and in particular, the opportunities which we have had as a result of the bilingual policy which Mr Lee so tirelessly advocated throughout his life, we say: Thank you, Mr Lee! May you rest in peace.”
